ISO 8100-32 up-peak lift traffic analysis
Annex D planning calculation for elevator and lift groups: round-trip time, interval, and handling capacity from your building data. Free in the browser.
What ISO 8100-32 covers
ISO 8100-32:2020 is the planning standard for passenger lift traffic. Clause 7 / Annex D cover the up-peak round-trip model; §8 covers simulation when you need more than the closed-form check.
Table 2 sets handling-capacity and interval targets by building type (office, hotel, residential). This app applies those targets to your inputs. It is not a certified or endorsed ISO product.
What the calculator computes
From floors, population, cars, capacity, speed, doors, and delays it estimates probable stops (S), highest reversal (H), round-trip time (RTT), interval, and 5-minute handling capacity (HC%). Average waiting time in the check is taken as half the interval.
Change car count or speed and the pass/fail against Table 2 updates immediately — useful at concept design before the shaft is committed.
When to add simulation
The Annex D model is up-peak only. Mixed incoming/outgoing/interfloor traffic, left-behind, and measured waits need discrete-event simulation (ISO §8). Pro runs DES and can export an ISO-style PDF.
